Italy helps dispose of nuclear submarines

The floating dock was built for the Northwest Radioactive Waste Management Center pursuant to the contract signed in November 2013. The contract was financed by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development as part of the Russian-Italian cooperation agreement on the disposal of Russian nuclear submarines, nuclear waste and spent nuclear fuel management. The contractor was selected in a public tender. The bid was won by Fincantieri, an Italian company with extensive global expertise in special-purpose vessels.
